The syllabus for Preliminary Examination will be as follows:

(a)     General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s General Awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matter of everyday observation and development in science & technology as may be expected of an educated person at Graduate/ Postgraduate Level. The test will also include questions on History, Indian Polity & Constitution, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, Agriculture, General Policy, Science & Scientific Research etc.

(b)     General Intelligence & Reasoning: The syllabus for General Intelligence & Reasoning includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. Test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, discrimination, observation, classification and relationship, concepts, arithmetical reasoning, number series etc. The test also includes questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and other analytical functions etc.

(c)     Arithmetical & Numerical Ability: The test Arithmetical and Numerical Ability will cover Number system including questions on Simplification, decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & proportion, percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance Tables & Graphs, etc. of higher difficulty.

(d)     Test of Language: Hindi/ English – Hindi and English: In addition to the testing of candidate’s understanding of the English & Hindi Languages, its Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and its correct usage etc., would also be tested.

Main Examination: Will consist of Descriptive type Questions of 200 marks and to be answered in 2 ½ Hours. The question will be on the concerned subject/trade/work of the relevant post as prescribed for the post and will be of the same level as applicable for the concerned post. The questions on the above test components will be generally of Graduate/Postgraduate level.

Part – II (Main Examination)

Part – II (Main Examination) consists of Descriptive type Questions of 200 marks to be answered in 2 ½ Hours. There will be 10 questions of 20 marks each with option/choice in each question.

C. Syllabus:

Part – I (Preliminary Examination)

General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s General Awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. The questions will be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matter of everyday observation as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries, especially pertaining to History, Indian Polity & Constitution, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Policy, Science & Scientific Research, National/International Organizations/ Institutions etc.

General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability: The syllabus of General Intelligence includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal types. Test may include question on analogies, similianties, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship, concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc.

Arithmetical and Numerical Ability: Questions in the component of Arithmetical and Numerical Ability will cover Number System including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, Menstruation, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Tables & Graphs etc.

General English and General Hindi: In addition to the testing of candidate’s understanding of the English & Hindi Languages, it’s Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms and its incorrect usage etc. would also be tested.

Educational Psychology, Education Technology, Communication Skills and understanding of teaching/ learning process and related topics: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general knowledge about the educational psychology, educational technology, communication skills and understanding of teaching - process and related topics.

Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions on Subject Concerned: The questions will be on subject concerned to test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of respective subject. In case of language subject, this part of question paper will only be in concerned language i.e. English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu, as the case may be, to test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of respective language, its vocabulary, grammar sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms etc. there may also be questions on comprehension of passage etc.

Part – II Main Examination

The questions will be on the concerned subject/trade/work/qualification of the relevant post as prescribed in the recruitment rules and will be of the same level as applicable for the concerned spot.

The question in Part I & II will generally be on the minimum qualification level of the post concerned.

Part – I (Preliminary Examination) will be qualifying nature. The Question-cum-Answer Booklet of Part – II (main Examination) will be evaluated only for those candidates who qualify Part – I (Preliminary Examination). Final merit list of candidates will be prepared on the basis of performance of candidates (marks secured) in the Main Examination only. The minimum qualifying marks for Part – I exam is 40% for general & 30% for OBC/SC/ST candidates and for Part – II 45% for General 35% for OBC/SC/ST.
