Minimum Percentage of marks for admission to is 45% in the aggregate in any one of the eligible examinations. The merit list shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best elective subjects. The course aims at providing comprehensive insight into finance, banking, law, accounting, taxation and management, which play an important role in today’s dynamic business environment. Specialised courses in itself, there are a lot of students with strong analytical skills and a mathematical bent of mind, who opt for this stream. Commerce is the "buzz" word in today's time. A bachelor’s degree in commerce opens the door to wide options for a students etc. B. Com. helps a student understand the basis like management, accounts, taxation, economic etc.

Careers/ Fields/ Specialisation: Banking, Civil Services, Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS), Cost and Work Accountancy (CWA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), entrepreneurs, Finance, investment, Insurance Management, MBA etc.

 

Subjects: Each student will have to appear in 7 papers in I year, 8 in II year and 7 in III year. First year: Business Organisation & Management, Financial Accounting, Microeconomic Theory and Applications – I, Business Statistics, Business Law, Introduction to Computers and Information Systems, Business Communication, Politics, Ethics & Social Responsibility of Business Second Year: Corporate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Microeconomic Theory and Applications – II, Business Mathematics, Corporate Laws, Income Tax Law and Practice, E – Commerce & Auditing, Hindi/ MIL/ Political Science/ Philosophy Third Year: Integration Courses: Compulsory: Management Accounting, Macroeconomics, Indian Economy – Performance and Policies A Student has to choose two elective groups out of the following: (Each elective group comprises of two courses) Elective Group – EA: Finance – I: Financial & Investment Management: Financial Management, Fundamentals of Investment Elective Group – EB: Finance – II: Financial Institutions, Services & Insurance: Financial Markets, Institutions and Financial Services, Insurance and Risk Management Elective Group – EC: Marketing and International Business: Principles of Marketing,  International Business Elective Group – ED: Advertising, Personal Selling and Consumer Protection: Advertising and Personal Selling, Consumer Protection Elective Group – EE: Human Resource Management: Human Resource Management, Compensation Management Elective Group - EF: Tax Planning and Management: Corporate Tax Planning, Business Tax Procedures and Management Elective Group - EG: Entrepreneurship & Small Business: Entrepreneurship Development, Small Business Venturing and Management Elective Group – EH: Enterprise Business Solutions: Computerized Accounting System, E – Management of Business Processes Elective Group – EI: Business Data Processing: Business Data Processing – I (Program Development Tools), Business Data Processing – II (Business Information System) Project Work

Business Communication: The students have to learn how to write project reports annual reports companies, minutes of meetings summaries of field or factory visits and such like. There are also lessons on telephone and SMS (short messaging service) etiquette.

Base cut off - Must have 80% in each subject English, Maths, Economics, Accounts, Commerce/ Business Studies; Base cut off + 2.5% with 60% in each subject; Base cut off +5% for English + Maths + Any other 2 subjects. ·   Jesus & Mary College (W). Seats: 100. Must have studied English & Maths in class 12. Base cut off +5% for commerce stream without maths & English; Base cut off +2% for Science with Economics & Maths; Base cut off +3% for Economics, Maths & Computers.

·   Kalindi College (W). Seats: 30

·   Kamala Nehru College (W). Seats: 35. Base cut off +5% for Science stream; Base cut off +2% with one vocational with Accounts & Maths.

·   Keshav Mahavidyalaya. Seats: 50. Must have 60% in Maths & one language. Base cut off -1% for girls; Base cut off +5% for Science.

·   Kirori Mal College. Seats: 55

·   Lady Sri Ram College for Women. It is treating students from all three streams on par. So, the usual disadvantage that a non – commerce student faced of having a cut – off about five percent higher than that for commerce student  will not be there. Students need not include their mathematics score to calculate best of four subjects aggregate. The only condition is that they should have scored 60 per cent in mathematics and 55% in English.

·   Lakshmibai College for Women. Seats: 70. Must have 50% in Maths & English.

·   Maharaja Agrasen College. Must have studied Maths upto class 12. Base cut off +5% for without commerce.
