Every college has its own list of vocational or academic subjects. If a subject is considered vocational then marks in these subjects will not be considered while calculating the best of four subjects. It is important to check with the respective college for the same. Many colleges still don’t consider subjects like Entrepreneurship, Fine arts, Informatics Practices, Home Sciences, Physical Education, Music, Agriculture, Dance as Academic subjects. They are accepting them only if the candidate applies to a course where the subject is relevant, i.e. Music will be considered if the candidate is applying for a B.A. (H) in Music.
Example:
Sri Venkateshwara: Penalty of up to 5 percent of the aggregate marks if the student has given a ‘vocational’ subject.
Miranda House: Fine Arts is considered non – academic whereas Political Science Academic.
St. Stephen’s College: Is treating Functional English at par with English (Core)
